How to wear cufflinks ?
Actually appeared earlier than buttons, pins, zippers, and Velcro. The good news is that although the history is a little longer, the cuffs are constantly improving. When wearing a suit or dress shirt, cufflinks are definitely the place to express your style the most. There are many kinds of cufflinks on the market now, so cufflinks are also a good choice when you want to support your favorite team, or attend a wedding, or just want to style yourself.
Five Steps to button cufflinks
1. Wear the right shirt. Be sure to choose a shirt with French (or double) cuffs. The cuffs of this shirt are longer than normal, and the cuffs are not buttoned on one side and buttonholed on the other.
2. Fold the cuffs outward, and pay attention to the fact that the edges of the cuffs on both sides should be flat and of the same length.
3. Close the cuffs. Close the open cuffs on both sides. Generally, there are buttonholes on one side and buttons on the other side of the shirt, just button them up, but on a shirt with cuff buttons, we need to smooth the cuffs on both sides as shown in the picture above.
4. Align the buttonholes. Be sure to line up the buttonholes on both sides.
5. Insert the cufflinks and secure. The decorated side of the cufflinks should face outward when the arm is close to the body.
Different types of cufflinks have different fixing methods:
Bullet - The most common and easiest cufflinks to wear. There is a part like a torpedo or a bullet between the two studs of this cufflink. This part can be moved, and it is vertical when passing through the buttonhole, and it can be fixed when it is turned horizontal.
Whale - These cufflink studs are vertical and have a fixed, whale-like section at the end. When buttoning the cufflinks, put one side of this part vertically through the buttonhole, and then put the whole cufflink upright so that the other side of the end also goes through the buttonhole.
Fixed - Fixed cufflinks have a stud and face that are integral, and the stud cannot be bent or turned. These cufflinks may be more difficult to wear, but since there are no moving parts, the cufflinks may be more durable.
Chain - The most traditional cufflinks. The earliest cufflinks were chain and most were made in England. Its most important feature is that the cufflinks are connected by chains on both sides. Because it is too difficult to buckle, this kind of cufflinks is only suitable for hardcore connoisseurs. Also, chain cufflinks are usually loosely buttoned.
Reversible Buttons - These cufflinks also have a design on the tail, not just for fastening. These cufflinks are beautifully designed on both sides, and you can choose which side to show, just like having two pairs of cufflinks.
Ball - These are chain cufflinks that usually end in a small gold or silver ball. The advantage is that it is more convenient to wear, and it is looser like a chain cuff button. Plus, the balls are prettier than bullet tails or regular fixed tails.
